How to Play Folk nine

The mission? Simple. Get rid of all 12 cards before your opponents do. Each round starts with the 9 of diamonds. Build rows by suit. Climb up or down. First to zero cards wins the pot.

Core Mechanics - Building Rows

Nine is always the base. Play a nine to start a new suit row. Got an 8 or 10? Slap it down on the matching nine. Rows grow both ways. Eight-seven-six down. Ten-jack-queen up. Same suit only. No skipping ranks.

Game Modes - Coins vs Points

Coin Mode: Everyone antes 20 coins. Skip a turn? Drop 10 more into the pot. Winner takes all. Game ends when someone hits zero or below. Most coins wins. Tie? Last round winner takes it.

Point Mode: Win by cards left in enemy hands. Race to 50 points. First there wins. Faster. Meaner.

Strategy - Card Priority

Lead with nines. Control the board early. Watch opponent skips. They're bleeding coins in Coin Mode. Hold middle ranks (8-10) for flexibility. Dump high cards (King-Ace) fast. They clog your hand late game. Skip turns strategically in Point Mode to bait opponents into bad plays.
